don't miss the bus
I stumbled across this the other day. The breeze was creating a ripple effect on the poster and the sun was creating ripply reflections, (it's made out of a plasticy canvas), each of which distorted the little girl's face. It's interesting when you can get close up to posters and billboards, and here, the plastic added another level of oddness.

Thanks.

Thanks for the linky-love. I've got you hooked up back on Dallas Diorama.
This post reminds me of something supremely bratty I did when I was an ADD child without the aid of Ritalin. I had a sadistic, evil bus driver who made me mad on a daily basis, so once I wrote in thick marker on a piece of paper "Help! We're being kidnapped!" and held it up at the back window of the bus. This was the mid-70s, and everyone wasn't carrying a cell phone, so nothing happened. I was born before my time, clearly. Today, that would probably be a misdemeanor, at the least, and garner me a suspension from school and some community service time. I suppose it's a good thing it didn't turn out like I planned!
Anyway, yes, the trick of light and the movement effect of the wind on a thin image can be startling, to say the least. I'm still astonished by the gigantic adverts images that are blown up to gigantic proportions and hung on the sides of parking garages downtown. They can be quite ugly.
Hello Monkaey...
that's interesting that they have a similar logo... but it sure was taken here in St. Paul (note the 651 phone prefix). And hey, you must have me confused with someone else. Mister Grey? Not me, Monkaey. Hope you like the blog.
Hi again, Monkaey,
I should add though, in case you didn't see them, that I do have a few photographs from England in the archived section of the blog. Have a look there and you'll see some of the northern seaside town of Morecambe.
best,
nn.
