Now that's not a sign but a poster taped on the inside of the window, right? Do you see the drugstore's intent/message? Because I doubt it was just to block the sun.... Was this the one near Hewitt and Snelling or closer to Rosedale? You are really testing my memory - and it's now well over 25 years! Yikes... I was a semi-grown-up 25 years ago... I think I'll go and sulk in the corner a bit now. Excuse me.
By the way, Bag News is cool; thanks for the pointer.
Hey Meg,
actually, it's not a window. It's a frame on top of a stairway leading down to a basement underneath Snyder Drug on University near Prospect Park (near the Witch's Hat tower neat Stadium Village). The windows are full of campaign ads for Democratic Party nominees for the upcoming election. I thought that this vaguely religious/philanthropic poster was interesting alongside the political ads (which aren't visible here) and the word, "Drug."
Hey the pairing of the image and text is really excellent....
I did see the juxtaposition of "Drug" with the picture, but I've been wondering if the "Friends" had anything to do with the Quakers... I'm a bit overly suspicious because here and in Australia the Exclusive Brethren has been tampering with electio campaigns. And if it is a coverly religious message, that's scarier than the overt ones. Again, over here, the Jehobah's Winesses were going for the heatlh/weight angle. No offence if you are affiliated with any of these groups, but I don't like the covert ways they try to creep into your life.
Um, that's Madonna's hand in the photo, right?
